In Latin, we'd say: RESCRIBO. So, we've never stopped, we never quit, we never once gave up on this. But we did hit some major walls and hurdles that required massive deviations in our plans. So massive, that we eventually said, screw it all to hell and back - just write and be dammed.
So we wrote, and wrote, and wrote, and made it all the way to the climax of our story. Which story, you ask questioningly? STATUS QUO ANTE BELLUM - The way it was before the war. The new year came and went, we gave up the harder stuffs and put our heads to the pages and said, How are we going to take 150,000 word document and turn it into something that people want to read? We came to the conclusion, that while there's a lot of good to be had from it the best thing to do is to start from scratch. Come back to the project again from step 1, and follow the process - this time, however - we know so much more about the story itself that it might just write its dammed self! Now, what do you think about that?

Figure the Foolscap by Following the Link: Troy~ Foolscap. What we have for you is a YouTube video, considered through a storygrid. The video was about 15 minutes long concerning the diet of Roman Legionaires of the Imperial era and how they ate. Everyday Moments in History ~ Foolscap This is the analyzation of a speech delivered & our personal notes that we came away with: From Racial Hatred to Rational Love x Joseph Pearce II I:) I was a neo Nazi until I became a Catholic. PC: I learned my racism from my father who was a very angry man and in the [hot] summer of 1976 I joined the national front; CQ:) I was 15 years old at the time, but the next year I started a magazine for the National Front & for editing the Bulldog newspaper I was sentenced to jail twice. CC:) I grew up in England, in the 1970’s, and became very angry against the Irish Republican Army by joining the Ulster Defense Association & Ulster Volunteer Force, a war where over 30 years 3 & 1/2 thousand people have been killed. Res:) The joke is - An American is in Belfast and gets lost, a group of locals asks him are you a protestant or a Catholic, the American responds I’m an atheist; so the locals ask: are you a protestant atheist or a catholic atheist? - the moral is - hate has nothing to do with the issue. PC II:) Drug dealers in Belfast get [shot-in-the] knee-capped, and I’m in a club singing anti-catholic clubs, when I get a pat on the shoulder saying I’m wanted just outside. PC: Without any real choice I was taken out back w/ 3 disillusioned UVF members [a terrorist cell]; “we want to be under your personal command - use us to take out anybody you want!” CC:). I said, “we should do something about this,” got on a plane and went back to England. Res: The men were however involved in killing a IRA man’s mother & so I dodged that bullet. CQ II:) Back in England,1985 I became involved in the Skinhead movement with a Record Label called White-Noise Records, our first record released was “White Power” & that was my part to say. PC:) Terza Intioni, an Italian neo-nazi group, were blamed for blowing up several people; we hid them in England until the dust settled. CQ: “Dont need to know, Dont Ask!” Was the terrorist policy so I don’t know if they did it or not - last I heard he was involved in Italian politics; well it was about this time I got out of prison. CC:) & so once I got out I started editing the paper again, and was put back in jail again. Res: Remember thinking then that I’m goin to jail for writing something that I dont even believe in anymore - I’d been faking it for some time now. CC II:) 2 days in my sentence, I had rosary beads in my hand - I was 24 years old in my life and I was praying for the first time in my life. PC:) I didnt know how to pray, so I mumbled and I held the beads, & I was filled with a great desire to join the Catholic Church. CQ:). The wall & the shallows by Xwz & also Cs Lewis pointed me to christianity. CC:) I was stopped on a bus by cops, illieggaly, but when a jewish American helped me at the English version of the ACLU - you’ve no idea how disarming it is to remember how that man listened & agreed with me & took my case. Res:) The best way to win over the hearts of hatred is with the spirit of love. Res II:) I moved out to the country, made a break with politics & have worked with the Catholic Church & work now to make amends for 11 years of hatred. PC:) My father was a demon, when he died in 2005, I was there with him at his deathbed & we prayed the roserie together. CQ:) Sorry to our fans, but we got a little caught up in the emotion and couldn't keep up the pace of taking notes - The speech offered by Joseph Pearce was followed by a question & answer session. O ur sincerest apologies for missing the Crisis, Climax and Resolution, of the last part there (about 5 minutes of the speech). Nevertheless, thanks much to Mr. Pearce for his work in the cause of love & peace and to you as well for reading. The older movie with Gene Wilder: Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory The newer movie with Johnny Depp: Charlie & the Chocolate Factory Respectively the Movie IMDb: Willy's; Charlie's. Both of these movies are seemingly very different re-tellings of Roald Dahl's book: Charlie & the Chocolate Factory. The book was first published in 1964, the first movie was made in 1971, & the newer movie was made in 2005. An interesting tid-bit of note; originally, Charlie was written as a black child. A few weeks back, The Storygrid Podcast put out an editors roundtable on the movie Alien, check it out here: Editor Roundtable: Alien Life has been beating down the door here, and so we've been a little slow over the holidays, but 2018 is rockin' & rollin' - January is already freakin' gone! Anyway, we wanted to give our take just to chime in on the StoryGrid conversation that is going on in the multi-verse today. Now, without listening to their show yet, we watched the movie & put it to a foolscap. But then we went & listened to the Editors around the Round Table discussing the FANTASTIC movie, Alien. In comparing their opinion to our work, we discovered what WE ALL got right and what WE ALL got wrong. First: Genre. Our initial estimation was that the Genre of this story was Action. The Editors (& the Film Producers,) correctly state that this is a Horror film; it is indicative, however, the number of times that this movie is referred to as action-oriented or, "Action Packed." Nevertheless, the Genre is Horror. We believe now that because the "action" that builds throughout the movie is not violent-action or gory-action (for the most part, there are not massive explosions, blood-curdling screams, nor Hollywood-bullets for shoot-outs). The story seems to have a lot of action because one of the characters is always doing something, while someone else is doing something else. By slowly complicating the Characters dynamics, (or by making ASH a robot) the Narrative Drive supports the audience's approval of Ripley's escape & survival while also approving of the extreme gore that befalls everyone else. Second: The (unseen) Cliffhanger. The analyzation of the Ending Payoff, both by the roundtable editors and we at J&T both failed to capture the logic of the stories progression adequately. In a comparative analysis with the podcast, J&T now believe that the Middle Build's Resolution was absent making a cliffhanger that was scored & underscored throughout the entire Ending Payoff. Third: The Take-aways. We wanted to make a point to give praise to the editors of this discussion. We learned a lot in regards to Obligatory & Conventional scenes, the Character Shifts, & the 6 Editors Questions. What we came away with most from their podcast was that, in reviewing these books & movies, often J&T do not have access to the Authors to inquire what their intent is. As such, we "judge" the "logic" of their "story-craft;" we felt this was very worthy of note for humilities sake. From the movie, the Editors point out, that Scifi is a setting & not a genre, & that, small progressive complications = Great Payoffs. These serve as great lessons to the craft of story-telling. Much thanks for doing what you do. If you haven't yet, check out the story grid by reading Sean Coyne's book: THE STORY GRID. Thanks to all the people involved & without further ado here's our take: Alien: Foolscap J&T's Controlling Statement: Rippley is part of a mining crew in deep space when the Mother-Company sends her & her shipmates to investigate an unknown transmission upon an alien world. Unlike past blogposts this work is based upon a book (soon to be published) as an alpha read for the author, Andre Sergoyan. His website is: https://andrenikysergoyan.weebly.com where you can find all his books as well as the first two novels in his series, The Age of Ash, and, The Tower of Armaethia. Controlling Statement:
Marianne Dashwood wears her heart on her sleeve, and when she falls in love with the dashing but unsuitable John Willoughby she ignores her sister Elinor's warning that her impulsive behaviour leaves her open to gossip and innuendo. Meanwhile Elinor, always sensitive to social convention, is struggling to conceal her own romantic disappointment, even from those closest to her. Through their parallel experience of love—and its threatened loss—the sisters learn that sense must mix with sensibility if they are to find personal happiness in a society where status and money govern the rules of love. J&T's Take: Elenor Dashwood is the eldest daughter of a newly widowed mother. Together the family finds there way through the Regency period of London where they learn that love is hard to find.
